Critical Component of International Space Station Scheduled to Launch July 12 From Kazakhstan

Today marks T-Minus 23 days in the
official countdown to space commercialization.
On July 12, the world’s
largest proton rocket — carrying the permanent living capsule (Service
Module) of the International Space Station — is scheduled to lift off from
Kazakhstan and will showcase the Pizza Hut logo prominently displayed on the
fuselage.

“We’re always looking for innovative ways to take pizza to new heights,”
said Randy Gier, chief marketing officer, Pizza Hut.
“What bolder way to
fulfill our mission to take pizza where no pizza has gone before than to be a
very visible element of this great space initiative.”

More than 500 million viewers from around the globe are expected to tune
in and watch the rocket lift off.
The mission is critical to the overall
operation and success of the International Space Station, a 16-nation
initiative involving the United States, Russia, Canada, Japan, Brazil,
Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Spain,
Sweden, Switzerland and the United Kingdom.
Once assembled, the station will
provide 46,000 cubic feet of pressurized living and working space for
engineers and scientists.
