New Haven, Conn., students will make the final long-distance school phone call to the Expedition 10 International Space Station crew, Commander Leroy Chiao and Flight Engineer Salizhan Sharipov.
The call is from 10:20 to 10:40 a.m. EST, Thursday, March 31, and it includes a video link with the crew. Approximately 500 students from Sheridan Communication & Technology Middle School, New Haven, will chat with the crew and learn about the vital role the Station plays in the Vision for Space Exploration. They also will gain insight into scientific careers and resources, as well as hear first hand the accomplishments of the Expedition 10 Crew.
NASA’s Education Flight Projects Office coordinates the activity for the agency. The office also supports NASA’s efforts to encourage students to study and possibly pursue careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
The Vision for U.S. Space Exploration is a bold new course into the cosmos. It is a journey that will return the Space Shuttle safely to flight, complete the construction of the Space Station, take humans back to the moon and eventually to Mars and beyond.
