Rear Admiral Craig E. Steidle, the president of the Commercial Spaceflight Federation and a former senior NASA official, will be at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center on July 7-8 at the Joint Industry Press Center (JIPC) to discuss the legacy of the Space Shuttle, and to help answer the question, “what’s next for American human spaceflight?”

The Commercial Spaceflight Federation (CSF) is the industry association for commercial human spaceflight, whose member companies such as SpaceX, Sierra Nevada Corporation, Blue Origin, United Launch Alliance, Space Adventures, Bigelow Aerospace, Virgin Galactic, Masten Space Systems, Armadillo Aerospace, XCOR Aerospace, and many others are developing the next generation of systems that will carry Americans into space.

Admiral Craig Steidle has a long and distinguished track record in aerospace as a former senior NASA official, flag officer, Naval aviator, test pilot, combat veteran, aerospace engineer, and program manager. As NASA’s chief official for the Exploration Systems Mission Directorate in 2004 and 2005, he personally initiated several innovative programs including efforts to foster commercial space transportation to the International Space Station, the Centennial Challenges prize program, and a far-ranging program of advanced technology development, and he served as the head of all NASA human space exploration efforts.
