HOUSTON – The Coalition for Space Exploration (Coalition) is pleased that President Obama signed the FY2011 NASA Authorization Act into law today. This marks yet another critical step for NASA to achieve a bold and sustainable approach for the future.

Additionally, it further acknowledges the interest of the White House and Congress in setting NASA on a clear path to maintain America’s leadership in space. We applaud all of those involved in keeping NASA’s future in the forefront and for the unwavering resolve to advance space exploration as a national imperative.

“The passage of this legislation is a testament to our Congressional system,” said Glenn Mahone, chairman of the Coalition. “Those who championed this bill obtained unprecedented, unanimous support in the Senate and advanced it through the House. With the President’s signature, we enter a new chapter in 21st-century space exploration.”

The Coalition continues to advocate for space exploration as vital to the progress and overall well-being of our country. Its proven impact on our national economy, the generation of high-tech jobs, stimulation of interest in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) education, our understanding of the environment and the origins of our planet, and on our position as a global leader cannot be overestimated.
