Amin Mamode graduated from INSA, the French national applied sciences institute, in 1974 and
began his career at CNES’s Toulouse Space Centre.
In 1989, he took charge of the Mechanical, Thermal and Power Engineering Division before
moving to the Guiana Space Centre in 1996, first as Deputy Assistant Director then Assistant
Director of Operations and Technical Facilities.
In November 1997, he chaired the steering committee overseeing the Guiana Space Centre’s
ISO 9001 certification effort.
Amin Mamode has been appointed CNES Director of Strategy, Quality and Technical Evaluation,
effective 1 October 2001. His twofold objective is Òto complete the task of bringing CNES fully
into line with ISO 9001 and to implement the 2001-2005 Strategic PlanÓ, which must now be
applied through concrete actions at all CNES centres.
