COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (March 28, 2008) — As we become more aware of Earth’s changing climate, we realize the importance of monitoring and understanding the wide-reaching consequences. A featured panel at the 24th National Space Symposium, “Climate Change, Space, and Implications for National Security” will look at a range of climate change related issues. This panel will draw a diverse and experienced group of industry, government, and nonprofit leaders together to discuss the space implications of changes in the Earth’s weather and the subsequent impact on national security. The symposium, the premier annual gathering of the global space community, will take place April 7-10 at The Broadmoor Hotel in Colorado Springs.
This well-rounded panel tackles the complex issues of climate change’s impact on space operations from multiple perspectives. Ms. Nancy S.A. Colleton, president, Institute for Global Environmental Strategies, will moderate the panel which will include Ms. Michele Brunngraber, deputy ADDNI for architecture, engineering, and integration, Department of National Intelligence; Mr. Ray Clark, senior partner, The Clark Group; Alexis C. Livanos, Ph.D., corporate vice president and president, Northrop Grumman, Space Technology Sector; and Mr. Scott Rayder, chief of staff, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. In addition to this noteworthy panel, the 24th National Space Symposium is packed with featured speeches and other timely panel discussions by the most senior government officials and industry leaders in space. More than 7,500 participants and media from across the United States and many foreign countries are expected to attend the 24th National Space Symposium.
