U.S. Air Force Brig. Gen. Anthony Cotton, commander of the 45th Space Wing that oversees launch operations at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, Fla., is being reassigned to the U.S. National Reconnaissance Office (NRO) as deputy director.

NRO spokeswoman Loretta DeSio confirmed Cotton’s pending arrival as the spy satellite agency’s No. 2 official, which was reported by Florida Today Feb. 26. According to that article, Air Force Col. Nina Armagno has been selected for promotion to brigadier general and will replace Cotton at the 45th Space Wing.

DeSio said she had no information on a future assignment for Air Force Maj. Gen. Sue Mashiko, the NRO’s current deputy director.
