Pratt & Whitney has named Walter Bylciw as president of its Space and Russian Programs unit, President Louis R. Chenevert announced today.
Bylciw succeeds Larry Knauer who resigned to pursue opportunities outside Pratt & Whitney.
“Walt has had a long and distinguished career at Pratt and United Technologies,” Chenevert said. “He will now play a key role in making Space Propulsion a world leader in low-cost, reliable space and missile motors.”
Bylciw, who most recently served as executive vice president-military engine programs, will lead all of Pratt & Whitney’s liquid and solid-fuel rocket engine businesses in West Palm Beach, FL and San Jose, CA. In addition he will oversee Pratt’s partnership with NPO Energomash in Russia to market the RD-180 rocket engine for commercial and military launch vehicles.
Pratt & Whitney, a United Technologies company (NYSE: UTX – News), is a world leader in the design, manufacture and service of aircraft engines, space propulsion systems and industrial gas turbines.
