Michael Dornheim Honored Posthumously With Two Awards, Including Aerospace Journalist of the Year Award
AVIATION WEEK editors garnered six Aerospace Journalist of the Year awards — more than any other publishing group — at a ceremony held during the just ended Farnborough Air Show in England. The competition, which involved hundreds of entries from aviation writers and broadcasters the world over, is organized by The World Leadership Forum. AVIATION WEEK winners are:
- Aerospace Journalist of the Year
Michael Dornheim, Senior Engineering Editor – Aviation Week & Space Technology (Posthumous) - Best Air Show Submission
Tony Velocci, Editor-in-Chief and William Scott, Rocky Mountain Bureau Chief, for “Birds and Blues” – Aviation Week and Space Technology - Best Breaking News Submission
Michael Dornheim, Senior Engineering Editor, for “Skunks Working” – Aviation Week and Space Technology (posthumous) - Best Business Aircraft Submission
James Asker, Managing Editor, for “Reach for the Sky” – Aviation Week and Space Technology - Best Safety Submission
David Huntzinger, Contributor, for “In the PINC” – Business & Commercial Aviation - Best Systems or Technology Submission
David Esler, Contributing Editor, for “FADEC’s Benefits Today and Tomorrow” – Business & Commercial Aviation
“We are honored by the recognition our editors received for their accomplishments in aerospace and defense reporting,” said AVIATION WEEK President Tom Henricks. “We are particularly touched by the two awards bestowed on Mike Dornheim, who tragically passed away in an automobile accident in June. Mike was an outstanding reporter, skilled engineer and trusted friend, and this recognition by his peers is a fitting honor to his accomplishments.”
The Aerospace Journalist of the Year Awards were created in 1996 to raise the profile of aerospace journalism globally and foster excellence in aerospace journalism.
