NASA Astronaut Barbara Morgan will participate in the grand opening and dedication ceremonies for the Delaware AeroSpace Education Foundation’s (DASEF’s) Environmental Outpost and Observatory, 585 Big Oak Road, Smyrna, Del. The 2,000-square-foot energy state-of-the-art environmental outpost and observatory are part of DASEF’s Innovation Technology Exploration Center.

The April 22 festivities, which run from 12:30 – 4:30 p.m., include activities, exhibits, tours, demonstrations and opportunities to meet Morgan. These events are open to the public and will take place, rain or shine. For more information, call (302) 454-2432.

Selected as the first Educator Astronaut, Morgan reported to the Johnson Space Center in August 1998 for two years of Astronaut Candidate Training. Upon completion of her training, Morgan was assigned technical duties in the Astronaut Office Space Station Operations Branch followed by a job in Mission Control as prime communicator with on-orbit crews. Morgan is currently assigned to the crew of STS-118, an assembly mission to the International Space Station.
