Alén Space has decided to promote the development of scientific and academic space missions throughout the world. The small satellite company has just launched its TRISKEL Mission Award initiative, which is open to international universities and high-tech centres. It is designed to contribute to the advancement of academic projects with nanosatellites.

Interested teams can sign up for the program until March 15 and aim for the prize: a TRISKEL solution, developed by the Alén Space team for the control and management of satellite data. This device, which is the result of more than 12 years of experience in the development of space missions, brings together in a single module an on-board computer (OBC) and telemetry, tracking and command (TTC) functions, two of the essential systems of any nanosatellite.

Due to its university origin, Alén Space team is aware of the normal difficulties that research projects encounter. In words of its CEO, Guillermo Lamelas: “We know how important it is to have support and help to go far. Today it’s time to return the favour to the scientific community and help some of these projects with our knowledge and technology.

Participants must provide a series of specific data to demonstrate the level of development of their projects and the goals of their missions

After the deadline, the judging committee, composed of Guillermo Lamelas; Diego Nodar, COO at Alén Space; Bibiano Arruti, hardware designer; and Fernando Aguado, member of the International Academy of Astronautics (IAA), will deliberate for a month.

Once the decision on the winning project has been published, the prize will be awarded before September 30.
