The American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) is hosting two free webinars—one moderated by former astronaut and AIAA’s own Sandy Magnus on Friday, 29 May, and another with NASA Associate Administrator Steve Jurczyk on Monday, 1 June––in anticipation of the first crewed launch from U.S. soil since 2011.
Sandy Magnus, who was on the last shuttle flight, will moderate a live panel discussion from 3-4 p.m. (Eastern Time) Friday, 29 May, about Building Our Off-World Future. She’ll be joined by Kathryn Denning, an anthropology professor at York University, and Minoo Rathnasabapathy, a research engineer at Space Enabled, MIT Media Lab.
The panel will discuss:
- How do we get there?
- How do we live there?
- And, finally, how do we stay there?
NASA’s Steve Jurczyk is chairing the readiness review of the SpaceX launch of the Crew Dragon capsule, known as the Demo-2 mission. He is scheduled to speak at 1 p.m. (Eastern Time), Monday, 1 June, in a free webinar.
He plans to discuss:
- Current activities across the agency’s four mission directorates
- How NASA’s programs and workforce have been hampered by the pandemic
- How NASA has assisted in the fight against COVID-19
