AGU, a scientific association with a community of over 41,000 scientists
from 130 countries has an open position for a Public Information
Coordinator in the Outreach and Education Research department. The
incumbent will create press releases; respond to inquiries from
journalists; plan and prepare press rooms at AGU meetings; and solicit,
edit, and write materials for AGU’s public oriented website in order to
promote the understanding of the Earth and space sciences.
The ideal candidate should have an avid interest in science public
policy, three to five years of experience in science writing,
demonstrated skills in translating highly technical material into
interesting articles suitable for lay audiences, and the ability to
communicate at all levels. Strong college level education in a related
field and Hill experience is preferred. AGU, located near Dupont
