Aerojet, a GenCorp (NYSE: GY) company, announced today that in partnership with Huntsville City Mayor Tommy Battle and Chamber of Commerce executives, it held a groundbreaking ceremony, marking the launch of Aerojet’s new office expansion project. The event began at 4 p.m. and was held at Aerojet’s future location at 7047 Old Madison Pike in Huntsville.
Several dignitaries attended the event, including: Congressman Mo Brooks; Mayor Tommy Battle; State Representative Phil Williams; Commissioner Mike Gillespie; Commissioner Phil Reddick and Commissioner Dale Strong.
This historic groundbreaking event highlights Aerojet’s significant presence and ongoing growth throughout the Huntsville and Southeastern Unites States areas. This expansion will allow Aerojet to provide additional engineering expertise, business development outreach and program management support to our government and prime customers who are located in the Huntsville area and beyond.
“I am very excited to see Aerojet make this decision to expand in Huntsville,” said Claude Baldwin, director of Operations for Aerojet’s Huntsville office. “I believe the added ability of having our business development folks working alongside our engineers will go a long way in improving our ability to support our customers.”
The company is working toward hiring an additional 25 engineers who will reside in the new office space. These Aerojet engineers will provide technical expertise in solid, liquid and gel propulsion, warheads, specialty metals and fire suppression systems. They also will provide face-to-face, hands-on technical interaction with all of our Huntsville customers for current and future programs.
The purpose of Aerojet’s expanded presence in Huntsville is to not only provide a better customer interface for the company’s DoD and NASA customers, but also to its prime contractors, supplier partners, local and regional universities, professional societies and community development organizations.
