Aerojet Rocketdyne, a GenCorp (NYSE: GY) company, today announced that the Arkansas Department of Labor (DOL) and the State of Arkansas Workers’ Compensation Commission have presented Aerojet Rocketdyne’s Camden facility with a “One Million Work Hour Safety Award.” The site also received the “Perfect Record Award” and the “Significant Improvement Award” from the National Safety Council.
Tonia Cooper from the Arkansas Department of Labor, along with Barbara W. Webb and Paul Lucas from the State of Arkansas Workers’ Compensation Commission were onsite to present the award to the 544 employees dedicated to the company’s Camden facility.
The “One Million Work Hour Safety Award” is granted in recognition of having worked more than one million hours without a lost-time injury; a “Perfect Record Award” recognizes 12 consecutive months without a lost-time injury; and the “Significant Improvement Award” is presented for achieving at least a 20 percent reduction in the number of days away from work due to injury or illness. Since its inception in 1976, DOL has awarded 456 “One Million Work Hour Safety Awards,” and this is the second one awarded in 2015 and the fourth to be awarded to the Aerojet Rocketdyne Camden facility.
“This outstanding accomplishment was made possible because of our Camden team’s dedication to their personal safety and due to their watchful eye for the safety of others,” said Bryan Myers, director of Environmental, Health & Safety at Camden. “Safety is a core value at Aerojet Rocketdyne and, in this business, it is taken very seriously. We are honored to receive these awards.”
