The 11th annual International Space Station Research and Development Conference (ISSRDC) will be held in Washington, D.C., July 25-28 at the Omni Shoreham Hotel. ISSRDC brings together leaders from the commercial sector, U.S. government agencies, and academic communities to foster innovation and discovery onboard the International Space Station (ISS). The conference is hosted by the Center for the Advancement of Science in Space, Inc., manager of the ISS National Laboratory; NASA; and the American Astronautical Society (AAS).

Last year marked the 20th anniversary of continuous human presence on the ISS, and in late December, the White House extended the life of the space station through 2030. The ISS has entered a new era, transitioning from a decade of utilization to a decade of results. ISSRDC 2022 will showcase how the space station continues to provide a valuable platform for research and technology development that benefits humanity and enables a robust and sustainable market in low Earth orbit.

This year’s event will feature dynamic keynote speakers, plenary presentations, technical sessions, workshops, and an investor session, among other activities. Additionally, the ISSRDC marketplace expo allows companies to showcase how they are advancing opportunities in low Earth orbit and provides a venue to meet with researchers, stakeholders, and policymakers. In the coming weeks, a series of announcements will highlight keynote speakers and panel sessions for ISSRDC 2022. While this is an in-person event, those not able to travel to Washington, D.C., will have the opportunity to view keynotes and plenary sessions via livestream.

About the International Space Station (ISS) National Laboratory: The International Space Station (ISS) is a one-of-a-kind laboratory that enables research and technology development not possible on Earth. As a public service enterprise, the ISS National Lab allows researchers to leverage this multiuser facility to improve life on Earth, mature space-based business models, advance science literacy in the future workforce, and expand a sustainable and scalable market in low Earth orbit. Through this orbiting national laboratory, research resources on the ISS are available to support non-NASA science, technology and education initiatives from U.S. government agencies, academic institutions, and the private sector. The Center for the Advancement of Science in Space, Inc. (CASIS) manages the ISS National Lab, under Cooperative Agreement with NASA, facilitating access to its permanent microgravity research environment, a powerful vantage point in low Earth orbit, and the extreme and varied conditions of space.
