On June 20 at 2:30 p.m. CDT at the U.S. Space & Rocket Center’s Discovery Theater in Huntsville, Alabama, the “Pass the Torch” series will feature current and retired NASA leaders. Four former directors of NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville will join current Marshall Director Jody Singer to discuss accomplishments and challenges during their tenure at the NASA field center.
Former directors joining Singer are Todd May, who served from 2016-2018; Patrick Scheuermann (2012-2015), and Dr. William Lucas (1974-1986). The panel will be moderated by Gene Goldman who was the acting director of Marshall in 2012.
As part of NASA’s celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 Moon landing, the panel presents the opportunity to reflect and learn from the past, while talking about the future of human exploration. As during the Apollo program, the Marshall team has a vital role in Artemis both in the development of the Space Launch System rocket that is the backbone to the program and the testing and development of habitats for the deep-spacefaring astronauts that will travel to the Moon and Mars.
Media interested in attending the panel should contact Shannon Segovia at 256-544-0034 no later than 5 p.m. CDT, Wednesday, June 19.
