Today, the Aerospace Industries Association (AIA) announced a new partnership with the SciArt Exchange – in collaboration with NASA – on the Project Mars Competition. The competition challenges college and early career professionals to create short films and posters that tell the story of deep space exploration and NASA’s plans for Mars. Combining the power of art and film with the applied sciences, Project Mars showcases the future of space exploration while also promoting the STEAM fields (science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics) critical to American aerospace innovation.

“Our industry inspires people to dream big dreams. Fueling that imagination is one of the most important things AIA and our industry does,” said AIA President and CEO Eric Fanning. “Because if you can’t imagine it, there’s nothing to build. Project Mars is a great opportunity to highlight the connection between science, technology and the arts and how they propel the innovation that carries us outward to the stars.”

AIA will be the competition’s Presenting Sponsor, contributing $5,000 to motivate filmmakers to create an innovative story about the future of space exploration. The association will present the “Innovative Film Prize,” and will also hold an event to celebrate the winners of the competition.

Film and poster submissions will be accepted through August 31, 2018. To submit your entry, or for more information on the contest and the prizes available, please visit www.ProjectMarsCompetition.org.
