VIENNA, 7 September (United Nations Information Service) – The United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs (UNOOSA) and the Sierra Nevada Corporation (SNC) will announce further details of the proposed Dream Chaser® space mission for United Nations Member States on Tuesday 26 September 2017, from 11.00 to 11:30 at the UNOOSA exhibition booth (site 23) at the International Astronautical Congress (IAC) in Adelaide, Australia.

In 2016, UNOOSA and SNC announced a dedicated space mission to provide United Nations Member States, especially developing and emerging countries, with the opportunity to develop and fly payloads in microgravity conditions related to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for an extended duration in low-Earth orbit using SNC’s Dream Chaser® spacecraft. This will be the first-ever space mission dedicated to the SDGs. The announcement at this year’s IAC will include information about next steps in the initiative for interested countries and other parties.
