Jena-Optronik is looking back on over a decade of successful cooperation with Space Systems Loral (SSL). More than 60 star sensor flight models from the ASTRO product family have been delivered to SSL in both the required time and quality. Many of them have already been launched into orbit and are without exception working flawlessly on SSL satellites. The outstanding performance is reflected within the supplier rating at SSL where Jena-Optronik scores an “excellent” in each category.

“Our suppliers are strategic partners and allies in serving the interests of our customers in building high performance, high quality spacecraft products,” said Vivian Mackintosh, Vice President of Supply Chain Management at SSL. “SSL is pleased to have worked closely with the experts at Jena over the last decade, and we look forward to continuing our shared legacy of innovation and reliability together”.

Vivian Mackintosh, SSL Vice President Supply Chain and Paul Estey, Executive Vice President Engineering and Chief Operating Officer at SSL, presented the best supplier award to the Jena-Optronik team during a visit to Jena.

Jena-Optronik is proud to support SSL on many important satellite missions and would like to thank SSL for the trust shown in products from Jena.

“To receive an award from SSL is so very special. The importance of SSL in the space industry is significant and with Jena-Optronik being selected for such a supplier award, is not only an enormous element of pride, it also exemplifies the vision that SSL strives for its suppliers and ensures the highest quality of products in their spacecraft and to the SSL satellite customers” illustrates Peter Lust, Jena-Optronik Head of Operations, United States and Canada. He complements: “For me personally the award is a culmination of two decades of solid and hard work for the teams at Jena and also at SSL. The teams work extremely well together in this partnership which we all consider much more than a customer and a supplier. This partnership has made the many running programs an enjoyment to work and deliver flight hardware to!”
