United Space Alliance (USA), the Houston-based space shuttle operator, said Feb. 4 it plans to lay off nearly 700 employees effective April 8.
USA has 6,350 employees nationwide. The layoffs will affect 548 workers in Florida, 145 in Texas and four in Alabama. USA has laid off 2,224 workers since 2009.
