Media are invited to attend 2015 VASTS Summer Academy closing activities

NASA Langley Research Center and the Virginia Space Grant Consortium’s Virginia Aerospace Science and Technology Scholars (VASTS) Summer Academy concludes its ninth year of summer sessions Friday, July 24 at Langley.

The third group of 60 high school seniors will finish Friday after spending an intense week designing the architecture for a human mission to Mars under the mentorship of Langley employees.

Overall, 180 students from Virginia participated in one of the three weeklong summer academy sessions. The academy participants were selected from a group of 550 students who successfully completed a rigorous aerospace-based science, technology, engineering, and mathematics online course. VASTS is free to all student participants and offers them four college credits.
