WHAT: NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, Pasadena, Calif., will host a meeting of experts from across the commercial space flight industry to discuss a new wave in commercial space exploration technology.
The 18th Annual Improving Space Operations Workshop, to be held April 24 and 25, will discuss transformative topics such as the use of lunar materials in support of commercial human space activities, exploration enabling technologies, and even the legal aspects of private enterprise in space. The workshop is jointly sponsored by the Space Operations & Support Technical Committee of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics and SpaceOps,
WHO: Opening remarks by JPL Director Charles Elachi begin on April 24 at 9 a.m. John Couluris, senior director for launch and mission operations for SpaceX, the first private company scheduled to dock at the International Space Station, will deliver a plenary talk on April 24 at 9:30 a.m. Additional talks include Michael E. Lopez-Alegria, president of the Commercial Space Flight Federation and retired NASA astronaut, and Will Pomerantz, VP of special projects at Virgin Galactic.
