Your commute really was longer Tuesday. Traffic analysts call it “September shock — that sudden return to bumper-to-bumper traffic after languid August, which typically has some of the lightest traffic of the year

The same used to be true for SpaceNews.com. But not this year.  August engagement held steady with June and July, averaging 900,000 monthly page views. More than 250,000 people visited SpaceNews.com in August — a 76 percent jump over last August. Engagement was up, too: 64 percent more sessions; 44 percent more page views. There’s never been a better time to advertise on SpaceNews.com, the space industry’s best-read B2B website.

Time’s running out

Bonus copies of the Sept. 12 issue of SpaceNews are going to four shows:

This is a great opportunity to reach more of your civil, military and commercial customers than usual. It’s not too late to get your ad into this issue.

Our Sept. 26 issue is going to the Asia-Pacific Satellite Communications Council (APSCC) 2016 in Kuala Lampur, Malaysia. SpaceNews Paris Bureau Chief Peter de Selding is moderating the Oct. 4 panel featuring Arianespace CEO Stephane Israel, ILS CEO Kirk Pysher and SpaceX President Gwynne Shotwell.

Greg Thomas named SpaceNews CEO

Our new CEO Greg Thomas hiked and biked 485 miles across mountainous Bhutan for the 2015 documentary “Crossing Bhutan.”

Greg is a partner in Pocket Ventures, the Boulder, Colo., firm that bought SpaceNews in 2012 to accelerate the publication’s digital transition. As a board member, he worked with SpaceNews Editor in Chief Brian Berger re-inventing SpaceNews.com, which was recognized by the American Society of Business Publication Editors in 2015 with national and regional awards for best website redesign. Greg, a digital media veteran and former COO at Inside Communications, has been an integral part of the SpaceNews management and operations team since joining the publication’s Alexandria, Va. headquarters full time in early 2015. In July, he took over as CEO. Greg can be reached at gthomas@spacenews.com.
