Washington, D.C. — Women in Aerospace (WIA) is pleased to announce the election of its 2012 board of directors and officers. The 2012 WIA board leaders are:

The newly elected board members are:

* Judy Smith, ITT Exelis

“We are so excited to welcome these outstanding individuals to the WIA Board of Directors,” said Sandy Coleman, ATK, and current Chair of the WIA Board. “They bring a wonderful mix of skills, abilities and accomplishments to our organization, and we know that WIA will be a stronger and better organization with their help.”

The newly-elected directors join a solid and dedicated Board of Directors which includes:Lillian Z. * Vice President for Communications: Jennifer Hoil, Longbottom Communications

“Women in Aerospace is a critical voice in the field of science and technology and over the years, many women who have worked at NASA have played a leadership role in WIA,” said NASA Deputy Administrator Lori Garver, a past president of WIA. “I’m delighted to see that continue with Stephanie and Rebecca. Congratulations to them and the other new members of WIA’s leadership team.”

The newly-elected WIA officers join the solid foundation of those serving their two-year terms: Vice President for Membership: Karen Yasumura, Intelsat General Corporation, Vice President for Professional Development Sara Fuentes, Navy League of the US and Vice President for Programs: Stephanie Bednarek, SpaceX.
