CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. — Media are invited to a photo opportunity as shuttles Endeavour and Discovery switch locations at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center, Fla., on Wednesday, Aug. 10, starting at about 8:30 a.m. EDT.
First, Endeavour will be backed out of Orbiter Processing Facility-1 (OPF-1). At about 9 a.m., Discovery will be moved out of the Vehicle Assembly Building (VAB), and then both shuttles will be briefly stopped outside OPF-3 for a “nose-to-nose” photo opportunity. Discovery then will be rolled into OPF-1 and Endeavour into the VAB.
Media must arrive at Kennedy’s Press Site by 7:30 a.m. for transportation to the photo opportunity.
Journalists without NASA Kennedy accreditation need to apply for credentials by 4 p.m. Aug. 9. New international media accreditation for this event is closed. Badges can be picked up at the Kennedy Space Center Badging Office on State Road 405 starting at 6 a.m. on Aug. 10. Media must apply for credentials online at: https://media.ksc.nasa.gov

In OPF-1, Discovery will undergo further preparations for public display at the Smithsonian’s National Air and Space Museum Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center in Virginia next spring. Endeavour will be stored in the VAB until October when it will be moved into OPF-2 for further work to get it ready for public display at the California Science Center in Los Angles next summer.
