Exemplary teachers to receive Presidential Award
More than a hundred mathematics and science teachers are being recognized at events in Washington, D.C., Dec. 14-17 as part of the Presidential Awards for Excellence for Mathematics and Science Teaching.
The awardees, first announced by the White House in June, 2010, arrive in Washington on Dec. 14 to attend a series of recognition events and professional development opportunities organized by the National Science Foundation (NSF), which administers this program for the White House.
A fact sheet provides more information on the awards program and a list of the awardees. Applications are currently being sought from secondary school teachers for the next round of PAEMST awardees; details are at the program website. Media interested in interviewing any of the teachers while they are in town can contact Maria Zacharias at mzachari@nsf.gov.
Note: The teachers are expected to visit the White House during the week, but the date and time have not been scheduled, and any media availability there will be coordinated by the White House press office.
