Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE:NOC) has won two Worker Safety Excellence Awards from the Aerospace Industries Association (AIA) for its commitment to improving the health and safety of its employees.

The company’s Integrated Systems sector was recognized for having the lowest injury and illness rate in the Aircraft Manufacturing category. The company’s Electronics Systems sector was similarly honored in the Aerospace Components category. The AIA cited Northrop Grumman’s low workplace injury and illness rates as well as its positive safety program elements.

“All of you should be very proud of your accomplishments,” said Marion Blakey, AIA president and chief executive officer, after recognizing the winners at an AIA Board of Governors meeting in November. “And our entire industry should be proud of a truly enviable track record on worker safety.”

“Winning this award reflects the commitment of our employees to maintain a safe and healthy workplace,” said Gary W. Ervin, corporate vice president and president of Northrop Grumman’s Integrated Systems sector. “Continually improving our safety programs is clearly a ‘win-win’ proposition for the company and the work force.”

“At Northrop Grumman, we are focused on maintaining a safe work environment and continually encouraging safe work practices both on and off the job,” said James F. Pitts, corporate vice president and president of Northrop Grumman’s Electronic Systems sector. “Every employee should be very proud of this prestigious team safety achievement.”
