Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE:NOC) has won two Worker Safety Excellence Awards from the Aerospace Industries Association (AIA) for its commitment to improving the health and safety of its employees.
The company’s Integrated Systems sector was recognized for having the lowest injury and illness rate in the Aircraft Manufacturing category. The company’s Electronics Systems sector was similarly honored in the Aerospace Components category. The AIA cited Northrop Grumman’s low workplace injury and illness rates as well as its positive safety program elements.
“All of you should be very proud of your accomplishments,” said Marion Blakey, AIA president and chief executive officer, after recognizing the winners at an AIA Board of Governors meeting in November. “And our entire industry should be proud of a truly enviable track record on worker safety.”

Northrop Grumman’s Integrated Systems sector employs nearly 13,000 people at operating sites in El Segundo, Calif. (also the headquarters), Bethpage, N.Y.; Hollywood, Md.; Melbourne, Fla.; Moss Point, Miss.; New Town, N.D.; Palmdale, Calif., and San Diego.
The sector’s major programs include manned aircraft systems such as the E-2D Advanced Hawkeye, E-8 Joint Surveillance Target Attack Radar System (Joint STARS), B-2 Spirit stealth bomber, F-35 Lightning II Joint Strike Fighter (as a principal subcontractor to Lockheed Martin Corporation) and F/A-18 Super Hornet and EA-18G Growler (as a principal subcontractor to The Boeing Company). Unmanned aircraft systems include the RQ-4 Global Hawk, MQ-8 Fire Scout, X-47B Unmanned Combat Air System and Broad Area Maritime Surveillance system.
Northrop Grumman’s Electronic Systems sector, based in Baltimore, Md., employs approximately 21,000 people at numerous engineering and manufacturing facilities across the U.S. as well as overseas.
