Challenger Center hosts new educational science demonstrations for students from the International Space Station

Alexandria, VA – Challenger Center for Space Science Education presents new science demonstration videos for students filmed on board the International Space Station (ISS) by Richard Garriott. Challenger Center in partnership with Mr. Garriott and Space Adventures, Ltd. developed a series of science video blogs for students based on important concepts in physics, science and engineering. The videos were filmed while Mr. Garriott was on board the ISS this past October, and are available at http://www.challenger.org

Mr. Garriott is the 1st second-generation astronaut and sixth private explorer to travel to the International Space Station (ISS). Mr. Garriott and Challenger Center developed a series of science challenges that can be replicated by students on Earth using everyday objects to demonstrate important concepts in physics. Mr. Garriott’s efforts continue educator astronaut Barbara Morgan and Christa McAuliffe’s legacy of teaching from space. Mr. Garriott’s science challenges, including student’s predictions about what would happen when he filmed the experiments in the weightless environment of space, and conversations he held with students before and during his mission can all be found at http://www.challenger.org
