Challenger Center for Space Science Education (CCSSE), an international nonprofit education organization founded in 1986 by the families of the Challenger 51-L astronauts, seeks an innovative and experienced leader to serve in the position of President. Using space themed simulation experiences, CCSSE creates educational opportunities through our growing network of Challenger Learning Centers (CLC) and through web-based programming to inspire the next generation of scientists and engineers.

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the President will develop a vision and strategy that advances the CCSSE mission, focuses on excellence in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) education, strengthens and expands the network of CLC’s and their capabilities and provides financial stability for the organization. S/he will build a high quality infrastructure to support the fundraising, program development and operational aspects of the organization and serve as the chief spokesperson to a diverse audience.

Requirements include an advanced degree in a related field and at least 10 years in senior leadership with a proven track record in management and fundraising; plus experience in leading the development of strategic educational programs. Preference will be given to candidates who have specific experience and knowledge of STEM education and related workforce issues.
