ATK Space Systems will be a Full-spectrum Satellite and Space Systems Business

Alliant Techsystems (NYSE:ATK) announced today that Carl A. Marchetto has joined the company to lead the formation of ATK Space Systems, a fourth business group for the company which will be established on April 1, 2008. Mr. Marchetto will become President, ATK Space Systems once the group is established. Mr. Marchetto was most recently the Executive Vice President of Orbital Sciences Corporation’s Space Systems Group. He previously held senior leadership positions at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, Lockheed Martin’s Astro Space Division, as well as Eastman Kodak, where he led its Commercial and Government Systems group.

ATK Space Systems will include the existing space operations of ATK’s Mission Systems group. This will be combined with the Information Systems and Geospatial businesses of MacDonald Dettwiler and Associates upon completion of the acquisition, which is expected to close early in the first quarter of the company’s fiscal year 2009 (FY09). The new group will be a full-spectrum satellite and space systems business with FY09 revenues of approximately $900 million. The group will have operations in four Canadian provinces and numerous facilities across the United States.
