NASA’s Ames Research Center will host a media availability Nov. 21 with Ellen Stofan, NASA’s new chief scientist. As principal science advisor to the NASA administrator, she is responsible for maximizing a scientific portfolio that literally spans the universe. Her own research has covered the geology of Earth, Venus, Mars and Titan. Stofan will be available to meet with local media to discuss the impact of NASA’s Earth and space science research on the Ames community, and how this research is a critical element in the agency’s long-term science and exploration roadmap.
The media opportunity is from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. PST on Thursday, Nov. 21, at the hyperwall located at NASA Ames, Moffett Field, Calif. The hyperwall, a 23-foot-wide by 10-foot-tall liquid crystal display composed of 128 screens, is used to view, analyze and communicate results from NASA’s high-fidelity modeling and simulation projects.
Interested media should contact Jessica Culler by email at jessica.culler@nasa.gov by 5 p.m. PST Wednesday, Nov. 20. Please meet at the Ames main gate at 12:30 p.m. PST on Thursday, Nov. 21. To participate, you must be a U.S. citizen or have a green card. Green card holders need advance approval and should contact Culler as soon as possible.
Directions: Take U.S. Highway 101 to the Moffett Field-NASA Parkway exit and drive east to the Ames main gate. Please obtain your visitor badge at the visitor control building to the right of the main gate. Please be prepared to show a government-issued photo ID, such as a driver’s license or passport, for entry. An Ames public affairs officer will meet media at the gate and escort media.
