LOS ANGELES AIR FORCE BASE, El Segundo, Calif. – The U.S. Air Force Space Command’s Space and Missile Systems Center has awarded a $17.5 million contract to Kratos Technology and Training Solutions, Inc., to sustain and provide post-production development for its Command and Control System-Consolidated.
The system provides telemetry, tracking and command for current and future MILSATCOM satellites. The $17.5 million covers the first year of the award, which includes options totaling up to a six-year period of performance and $133 million.
The award of the CCS-C Production and Sustainment Contract (CPASC) was the result of a full and open competition designed to provide effective and cost efficient operation and sustainment of the existing CCS-C capability. CPASC will provide telemetry, tracking and command for three additional Wideband Global SATCOM satellites and two additional Advanced Extremely High Frequency satellites. This fixed price incentive type contract was awarded with a one year base period and options continuing through 2018.
CPASC includes unique plans for a public-private partnership between Kratos, the CCS-C program office and the Ogden Air Logistics Complex (OO-ALC). By 2018, OO-ALC is slated to provide 20 percent of the core software sustainment for CCS-C, furthering Air Force goals to increase organic depot repair capabilities for space systems.
CCS-C provides integrated MILSATCOM command and control in support of the Defense Satellite Communication System, Milstar, AEHF and WGS satellite families. Capabilities include command and control, mission activity and maneuver planning, telemetry processing, orbit and attitude management, resource management, space vehicle and ground system simulation, security, support planning and execution, training, and testing. Satellite state-of-health operations include launch, early orbit, on-orbit, anomaly resolution, disposal and backup operations.
