Agile Space Industries, an aerospace propulsion innovator
founded in 2009, has acquired additive manufacturing (AM) leader, Tronix3D, to continue their mission
of innovating in-space propulsion systems. The newly integrated entity will be known as Agile
Additive and will extend the innovations of Tronix3D in printing exotic alloys for complex,
high-performance aerospace components to transform how space companies execute their most
demanding missions.

Today’s space missions demand propulsion systems that are customized, high performance, and that
can be fielded in months rather than years. Agile Space Industries has demonstrated that by
incorporating AM, tailored propulsion technologies can be advanced from design to hot fire in under
two weeks, and high performance flight hardware delivered well within new space timelines. The
acquisition of Tronix3D enables Agile Space Industries to further accelerate their propulsion delivery
schedules, enhance technical assurance of propulsion products, and develop innovative intellectual
property around metal AM.

“Having worked with Tronix3D as a supplier, we were continually impressed with their ability to
develop new proprietary processes for working with these very challenging materials and geometries
of our next generation space propulsion systems. We realized that if we integrated these
competencies internally at Agile, it would further accelerate the innovation, quality and timeliness of
the products that we deliver to our clients,” said Jeffrey Max, CEO of Agile Space Industries.

“Parts that used to be complex or even impossible to manufacture are now achievable because of our
advancements in 3D printing of novel alloys. For Agile Space Industries and the aerospace industry at
large, our innovations across materials, unique build geometries, and in situ print monitoring will
allow us to deliver the intricate and structurally sound parts,” said Buck Helfferich, President of Agile
Additive.

Agile Additive’s continued investment in materials and processes will deliver higher strength, lighter
weight, and higher temperature alloys to manufacture aerospace technologies with superior
performance and mass fractions. For space vehicle operators, these 3D-printed innovations increase
the on-orbit maneuverability of Espa satellites and next generation space vehicles. Agile Additive’s
novel AM geometries unlocks propulsion hardware with high specific impulses, exceeding which allows spacecraft to burn harder and fly further. This acquisition ultimately enables space
missions flying Agile Space Industries’ propulsion to be more survivable, long-lived, and resilient.
