NASA’s Glenn Research Center in Cleveland invites the public to attend a launch viewing at its visitor center in Great Lakes Science Center for the launch of SpaceX’s 11th contracted cargo mission to the International Space Station, June 1 from 5 – 6:30 p.m. Launch is targeted for 5:55 p.m. from Kennedy Space Center in Florida.
Access to Great Lakes Science Center will be free to the public during the watch event for the launch. Guests will be able to watch the launch live, visit the galleries within the NASA Glenn Visitor Center and explore the adjoining BioMedTech gallery exhibits.
Two Glenn projects will be aboard the uncrewed Dragon cargo spacecraft; the Advanced Combustion Microgravity Experiment (ACME) and upgrades to the space station’s microscope, the Light Microscopy Module (LMM).
ACME is a series of five independent experiments, each designed to expand our understanding of flames at a fundamental level, and the LMM upgrades consist of a new laser, scanner and high definition digital camera which will allow scientists to view microscopic particles in 3D.
Project scientists will be available to speak about the experiments and answer questions about Glenn’s role in conducting experiments in space.
