Today the House Science, Space, & Technology Committee appointed Congressman Brian Babin (R-TX) as chair of the Subcommittee on Space. The Subcommittee on Space has legislative jurisdiction and general oversight and investigative authority on all matters relating to NASA, and commercial space activities relating to the Department of Transportation and the Department of Commerce. Congressman Babin represents Texas’s 36th Congressional District, which includes NASA’s Johnson Space Center (JSC).
“We welcome the news of Congressman Babin’s appointment as chair of the Space subcommittee,” said CSF President Eric Stallmer. “Chairman Babin has been a strong advocate in Congress for pro-growth policies that enable the commercial space industry to continue to innovate and create high-tech jobs. CSF would like to thank the departing chairman, Congressman Palazzo, for his years of distinguished leadership on the subcommittee. We thank Chairman Lamar Smith for his appointment of Congressman Babin, and we look forward to continued work with the committee on smart commercial space policies to promote the economic development of space.”
