NASA today announced the selection of Battelle Memorial Institute, Columbus, Ohio, to support research and development of the Integrated Safety Data for Strategic Response project at the Ames Research Center, Moffett Field, Calif.
The project operates under NASA’s Aviation Safety Program. Battelle will be responsible for deploying, operating, and maintaining distributed archives of airline industry flight data and safety reports; and for developing innovative advanced tools to convert and integrate digitally recorded or text reports of aviation safety data.
The five-year performance period of this contract is comprised of a one-year base period and four one-year options. The total estimated cost-plus-award fee for the base period year is $7.9 million. The contract value, if all options are exercised, is $40.2 million. The phase-in begins Jan. 31, 2006, with full contract responsibility starting March 1, 2006.
