On Sept. 18, NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Alabama, will host a Small Business Alliance Meeting at the Davidson Center for Space Exploration in Huntsville. Approximately 500 representatives of large and small business prime contractors, subcontractors and NASA organizations from across the country are expected to participate.

The event will include presentation of the Marshall Center Small Business Office’s annual Industry and Advocates Awards, honoring aerospace companies and leaders who have demonstrated support of the Marshall Center’s Small Business programs and NASA’s mission of exploration.

Members of the news media are invited.

Sponsored by Marshall’s Office of Procurement and the Small Business Office, the Small Business Alliance was established in 2007 to help small businesses pursue NASA procurement and subcontracting opportunities.

Marshall Deputy Center Director Robin Henderson will provide opening remarks followed by Troy Trulock, mayor of the city of Madison; and John Hamilton, Huntsville city administrator. Awards will be presented by Kim Whitson, director of the Marshall Office of Procurement; and Dave Grove, program manager of the NASA Office of Small Business Programs. Moderating the event will be David Brock, small business specialist at the Marshall Center.

The meeting will be held from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Davidson Center at the U.S. Space & Rocket Center at One Tranquility Base in Huntsville. The awards ceremony is scheduled from 9:30 to 10 a.m.

News media interested in covering the event should contact Kim Newton in the Marshall Public & Employee Communications Office at 256-544-0034 no later than 4 p.m. on Sept. 17.
