DECATUR, Ala. – On August 26, Lt. Gen. Sam Greaves, commander of Air Force Space Command’s Space and Missile Systems Center, provided opening remarks at a United Launch Alliance Quality Summit held in Decatur, Ala. The Summit was a follow-on to an initial Summit held in May, designed to bring ULA together with government customers to discuss the Evolved Expendable Launch Vehicle program and to continue efforts providing an integrated focus on ensuring quality in all components of a launch, from engineering to training to process discipline.
“Through 75 launches, EELV has successfully and repeatedly demonstrated a commitment to mission success,” Greaves said in his remarks. “This is a superb record, but we cannot take it for granted.” Earlier in the day, Greaves spoke with a group of military veterans employed at ULA and thanked them for their service to our country. “The care they put into their work has contributed greatly to the exceptional record of successful launches, delivering combat capability to our warfighters and national decision makers,” said Greaves.
Greaves also took a tour of ULA’s manufacturing facility. ULA is a key provider of launch services for the Air Force, placing various Department of Defense weather, communications, GPS and national security satellites into orbit.
