HOUSTON — On March 31, NASA takes over the Texas Capitol for "Space Day at the Capitol." It’s a space exploration celebration as big as the Lone Star State featuring out-of-this-world space exhibits, educational presentations for students, astronaut appearances, legislative proclamations and the rare chance to touch a piece of an almost 4-billion-year-old moon rock.

Activities at the Capitol include:
— 7 a.m. to 8:45 a.m. – media interviews with astronaut Doug Wheelock
— 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. – free interactive NASA Driven to Explore mobile exhibit along Colorado Street
— 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. – educational presentations for registered students on the Capitol lawn
— 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. – astronaut autograph sessions in the basement rotunda
— Space proclamations will be read in the Texas House of Representatives and Senate.

To schedule media interviews, please contact Lindsay Cunningham at 281-483-2924 or lindsay.cunningham@nasa.gov.

Other Space Week Texas activities include events in College Station March 24-27 at the College Station Independent School District Tiger Stadium and the George Bush Presidential Library.
