BEVERLY, Mass. – January 9, 2011 – Explore Mars, Inc. is pleased to announce the launch of our new online quarterly publication, Mars Exploration Magazine (MEM).

The premier edition features articles by and interviews with some of the most prominent people in the space community including: Elon Musk, Steve Squyres, Vint Cerf, Peter Diamandis, Jack Mustard, Joe Cassady, Tiffany Montague, and more.

According to MEM Editor-in-Chief, Susan Holden Martin, “We envision interactive content and streaming video that appeals to young science students (K-12 and beyond), as well as to a broader, non-academic demographic on the Mars theme.”

MEM plans to introduce updates and variations in each new edition, and offer rich and expanding multi-media content.

In addition, future editions will list employment opportunities, including research and intern positions available in the Mars community, as well as a comprehensive calendar of important events occurring in the advocacy community.

Unlike many other organizational magazines, MEM will be unusually open to the opinions and content of other organizations. “Although this is the magazine of Explore Mars, Inc., we invite other groups to send in content and new items,” commented Explore Mars Executive Director, Chris Carberry. “We envision this magazine to be open to the Mars community as long as the content is appropriate and we have available space.”

Beginning with the next issue, Explore Mars will also be devoting a section of the magazine to promote the activities of teachers and students. Further details will be released at a later date, but MEM is committed to advancing the goals of science and technology education.
