Experts and innovators in the global space operations community will “deliver on the dream” at the SpaceOps 2010 conference April 25-30 at the Von Braun Center in Huntsville, Ala. The conference will serve as a forum on best practices for the international space operations community to discuss advanced communication and navigation technologies, flight control systems, interoperability and internetworking and more. The event — themed “Delivering on the Dream” — is hosted by NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville and organized by the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics.

Highlights:
Monday, April 25, 9 a.m CDT: Opening remarks and the introduction of the keynote speaker will be given by Marshall Center Director Robert Lightfoot. NASA Associate Deputy Administrator Charles Scales will follow with his keynote address.
Thursday, April 29, 7 p.m.: Gene Kranz — best known for his role in directing the successful mission control team efforts to save the crew of Apollo 13 – will be the guest speaker at the conference Gala Dinner at the Davidson Center for Space Exploration, located at the U.S. Space & Rocket Center. Kranz also will receive the 2010 International SpaceOps Exceptional Achievement Medal, for pioneering the concepts and procedures that laid the foundation for human spaceflight operations — many of which are still in use today – and for his inspirational leadership that raised the awareness of the importance of spaceflight operations throughout the world.
Friday, April 30, 1 p.m.: Will Whitehorn, president of Virgin Galactic – an airline that offers suborbital spaceflights — will speak at the closing ceremony.
