NASA’s Aeronautics Research Mission Directorate has awarded approximately $1 million to two Pennsylvania organizations for work described in NASA research announcement proposals.
The Boeing Company of Ridley Park, Penn., will receive $399,620 for work described in its NASA research announcement proposal entitled “Coupled CFD/CSD/Icing Analysis for Rotorcraft in Forward Flight.” Robert Narducci is the principal investigator.
Pennsylvania State University, University Park, will receive $400,000 for work described in its NASA research announcement proposal entitled “High Resolution CFD Analysis of Rotorcraft Rotor Icing.” Ralph Noack is the principal investigator.
Pennsylvania State University also will receive $207,220 for work described in its NASA research announcement proposal entitled “Rotorcraft Transmission Noise Path Model, Including Distributed Fluid Film Bearing Impedance Modeling.” Stephen Hambric is the principal investigator.
The awards, made by the directorate’s Fundamental Aeronautics Program, will foster close collaboration with and facilitate the exchange of ideas and information among researchers at NASA, industry, academia, and other government agencies to benefit the nation’s aeronautics community.
The Fundamental Aeronautics Program has the principal objective of overcoming today’s national challenges in air transportation. The program develops focused technological capabilities, starting with the most basic knowledge of underlying phenomena through validation and verification of advanced concepts and technologies at the component and systems level.
