ROCKVILLE, Md. – GMV (www.gmv.com) today announced it has been selected by Star One to upgrade the Brasilsat Satellite Control Facility for the Brasilsat B1, B2, B3 and B4 spacecraft. The Brasilsat B1-B4 spacecraft are Boeing 376W spacecraft. This contract is GMV’s first contract with Star One, the largest satellite operator based in South America.

“This contract is exciting because it furthers GMV’s position in South-Central America with the largest operational satellite control system in this region of the world,” said Theresa Beech, Managing Director, and Vice President of Business Development of GMV. “It also demonstrates Star One’s confidence in our ability to support such important spacecraft.”

“We believe this will be an opportunity to equip Star One with an updated system allowing us to increase our reliability and flexibility in terms of satellite control operations”, said Lincoln A. A. Oliveira, Director of Engineering and Vice President of Star One.

GMV will provide the satellite control facility software and hardware to upgrade the existing satellite control facility for the Brasilsat B1-B4 spacecraft, to last through the end of life for these four spacecraft. GMV will be integrating the satellite control center, base-band units and associated radiofrequency hardware and software. GMV is providing the satellite telemetry and telecommand system, and flight dynamics system.

GMV’s flight dynamics product for geostationary satellite focusGEO, and GMV’s telemetry and telecommand product hifly(R) will be customized to the Brasilsat B1-B4 spacecraft. Collocation, automation and high-speed trending and archiving services will also be supported by the new satellite control facility. GMV’s autofly product, for the automation of operational procedures using the Python scripting language will also be provided. For GMV, this contract means that GMV’s satellite control software will be installed in six continents and 25 countries, making GMV one of the undisputed leaders in satellite ground control systems in the world.
