NASA astronaut Scott J. Kelly, commander of space shuttle Endeavour for STS-118, the most recent mission to the International Space Station, will visit Samuel Gompers Career and Technical High School, Bronx, N.Y., on Friday, Sept. 28. The school visit, open to media, begins at 9 a.m.

Selected by NASA in 1996, Kelly will discuss his experiences as an astronaut and show students a multimedia presentation of his recent mission. STS-118 was the 22nd mission to visit the International Space Station. The mission continued space station construction and involved multiple spacewalks. The crew traveled 5.3 million miles during the 13-day trip. The seven astronauts returned to Earth Aug. 21.

Kelly has logged more than 497 hours in space. He graduated from Mountain High School, West Orange, N.J., in 1982. He earned a Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering from the State University of New York Maritime College in 1987 and a Master of Science in aviation systems from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, in 1996.
