Cleveland — News media are invited to attend “Astronaut Encounter,” part of the Third Saturday series at NASA Glenn’s Visitor Center on Saturday, Nov. 18, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Astronaut Michael Fincke will be on hand throughout the day to greet visitors and sign autographs. He will also speak in the Visitor Center auditorium at 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. about what it takes to be an astronaut and how it felt to live and work more than 230 miles away from Earth.
Fincke spent six months aboard the International Space Station (ISS) serving as flight engineer and NASA ISS science officer during Expediton 9 (April 18 to October 23, 2004). During his stay on the ISS, Fincke operated science experiments, did maintenance work on the space station and conducted four spacewalks. NASA selected Finke as an astronaut candidate in 1996. He is originally from Emsworth, Pa.
