WASHINGTON – House Science Committee Chairman Sherwood Boehlert (R-NY) today announced the promotion of Rachel Jagoda Brunette to Professional Staff on the Subcommittee on Research.

Jagoda Brunette, who had been serving as Staff Assistant on the Subcommittee since July, assumed her new position on April 17.  In her new capacity, she is responsible for issues related to math and science education and natural hazards, including earthquakes.  Jagoda Brunette replaces Kara Haas, who left the Committee earlier this month to assume a federal affairs position at Yale University.

Prior to joining the Subcommittee on Research, Jagoda Brunette served as Staff Assistant on the full Committee on Science, a position she was hired to in February 2005.  A native of the San Francisco Bay area, Jagoda Brunette graduated from Georgetown University in 2003 with a Bachelors degree in physics.  She is currently attending George Washington University part-time, where she expects to receive her Master of Arts degree in political management this May.
