Washington – House Science Committee Chairman Sherwood Boehlert (R-NY) today announced the addition of Roselee Roberts to the Science Committee Staff.  Boehlert hired Roberts, who was previously the Director of Legislative Affairs for Boeing Corporation, to serve on the Subcommittee on Space and Aeronautics as a Professional Staff Member and Designee to subcommittee Chairman Ken Calvert (R-CA).

Chairman Boehlert said, “We’re very delighted that the Committee will be able to draw on Roselee’s long and varied experience in space and aeronautics policy.”

Chairman Calvert said, “I’m delighted to have her on board during this exciting time of change in space exploration and transportation.  She is a fine addition to the already outstanding subcommittee staff.  Roselee has over 25 years of experience in government and the private sector.  As the new Chairman of the Subcommittee, I will rely on her expertise and sound judgment as we work to return the Shuttle to flight, complete the International Space Station and move forward with the President’s Vision for Space Exploration.”

Ms. Roberts has worked for Boeing for the past 17 years and has been involved with such programs as the International Space Station, the Space Shuttle, launch vehicles and satellites, and aeronautical research.

Before joining Boeing, Ms. Roberts spent nine years on Capitol Hill, during which time she served in the capacities of legislative director and appropriations staff member.  She also served as staff director to then-Representative Bill Nelson (D-FL) during his tenure as Chairman of the House Space and Aeronautics Subcommittee. Prior to her experience on Capitol Hill, Ms. Roberts was an economist for several Federal agencies, including the Office of Management and Budget, the President’s Council of Economic Advisers, and the Department of Transportation.

In 1997, Ms. Roberts was one of two women nominated by McDonnell Douglas for the Leadership America program.  During the course of her career, Ms. Roberts has received numerous awards and accolades including, the Outstanding Young Woman of America award, the Women in Aerospace Emeritus Award and Women in Aerospace Outstanding Leadership Award.

Ms. Roberts has served as President and as a member of the Board of Women in Aerospace, and as President of Women in Aviation.  She is a member of the University of Miami President’s Council and also serves as the University’s Regional Alumna Representative. Ms. Roberts earned a bachelor’s degree in economics and mathematics from the University of Miami and a Master’s degree in Economics from Virginia Tech.  She is married to Art Roberts and has two grown daughters.
