Members of the news media are invited to attend the upcoming 42nd Goddard Memorial Symposium which will provide a unique opportunity to learn more about the technologies, challenges and opportunities associated with President Bush’s new space exploration vision. The event will be held March on 16-17, 2004 at the Greenbelt Marriott hotel in Greenbelt, MD.

Individuals making presentations or joining in panel discussions will include not only key NASA officials but also individuals from Congress, aerospace companies, academia, policy organizations and private industry.  Featured speakers include U.S. Representative Nick Lampson (D-TX), Al Diaz, Director of NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center and Riccardo Giacconi, a co-recipient of the 2002 Nobel Prize for Physics.

Topics to be addressed include returning to the Moon, technologies for human exploration, NASA’s Crew Exploration Vehicle program, and an overview of the current Mars program, which recently confirmed the presence of liquid water on the Red Planet.
