What: The NASA fiscal year 2002 budget briefing to the news media is
scheduled for 1 p.m. CDT, Monday, April 9, at NASA Headquarters in
Washington, D.C., and will be broadcast live on NASA TV. NASA Administrator
Daniel S. Goldin and NASA Comptroller Malcolm Peterson will participate in
the briefing and answer questions.
Following the Headquarters briefing, Art Stephenson, director of Marshall
Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Ala., will discuss Marshall’s funding
allocation under the budget proposal, and the outlook for Marshall Center’s
major programs.
News media may participate in the briefings at the Marshall Center. There
will be an opportunity to pose budget-related questions during each
briefing. A summary of the NASA budget will be distributed at the beginning
of the news media briefing.
Who: More than 50 high school and college teams compete against the clock
to assemble a human-powered moonbuggy. A two-member coed team races it over
a half-mile course at the U.S. Space & Rocket Center in Huntsville, Ala.
High school teams race Friday, and college teams compete Saturday.
